Mere hours after its TIFF debut, IFC Midnight snatched up the US rights to Turkish-language horror film BASKIN. We’ve looked at the film previously and plan to have a full review in the near future, but it’s good to know that the festival hit will be available to the public sooner rather than later.

IFC MIDNIGHT TAKES US RIGHTS TO TORONTO HORROR HIT ‘BASKIN’

Los Angeles, CA/Toronto, CA (September 14, 2015) – It was announced today that IFC Midnight has taken all U.S. rights to the Toronto Midnight Madness hit BASKIN, a Turkish language horror thriller that was directed by Can Evrenol.

The film was produced by Muge Buyuktalas of MO Films and executive produced by Todd Brown of XYZ Films and Mike Hostench and stars Gorkem Kasal, Ergun Kuyucu, Mehmet Cerrahoglu, Sabahattin Yakut, Mehmet Fatih Dokgoz, Muharrem Bayrak.

Five cops, working the graveyard shift in the middle of nowhere are dispatched to investigate a disturbance. Isolated and without back up they find themselves confronting a labyrinthine ruin. Pushing ever further into the depths of the lair, it becomes clear they have stumbled into the darkest pits of a terrible evil. A squalid and blood-soaked den of ritual led by The Father – the master of all their nightmares – who will plunge them ever deeper down the rabbit hole and into the very mouth of madness.

The deal was brokered by Nate Bolotin from XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers and by Arianna Bocco for IFC.

International sales is being handled by the Salt Company.

Recently, Evrenol signed with WME for representation.

XYZ Films is currently producing and handling sales for a number of titles including the international hostage thriller 6 DAYS, starring Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Abbie Cornish, the action-thriller PILGRIMAGE starring Jon Bernthal, Richard Armitage and Tom Holland and I KILL GIANTS, which is directed by Anders Walter and produced by Chris Columbus, Treehouse Pictures, Man of Action Entertainment and XYZ.
