Joaquin Phoenix is back as Joe in Lynne Ramsay’s latest called YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE, a thriller about a missing teenage girl and corruption.

Phoenix (SIGNS, HER, WALK THE LINE) appears to be a loner of a hitman, doing the dirty work of powerful others. He’s given the task of finding a teenage girl, which turns into more than just a simple rescue mission. Phoenix is brutal in his pursuit, which has piqued our interest.

YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE is based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan Ames. The movie is written and directed by Lynne Ramsay (WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN) starring Ekaterina Samsonov (ANESTHESIA, WONDERSTRUCK) and Alessandro Nivola (AMERICAN HUSTLE, JURASSIC PARK III).

YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE hits select theaters April 6. Check out the trailer below.

A missing teenage girl. A brutal and tormented enforcer on a rescue mission. Corrupt power and vengeance unleash a storm of violence that may lead to his awakening.
