Awww...

I know that I am in the smallest of minorities here, but part of me was excited at the rumors of the forthcoming Friday the 13th film being shot in Found Footage style. I could come up with countless scenarios as to why a camp would need video monitoring at all times, and thought it would be a new and unique (and cheap) way to get Jason back on the big screen. Turns out the filmmakers couldn’t envision it themselves.

Producer Brad Fuller spoke with the folks at Shock Til YouDrop and offered up some insight as to where the project stands today.

“I could just say that for a long time we were stalled,” Fuller tells Shock. “I think you guys reported that the movie was going to be a found footage movie and that was a road that we went down and tried to figure out. Ultimately, I think Michael, Drew and I felt that we couldn’t figure that out, so we kind of jettisoned that whole notion and we had to start over. We’re in the latter phases of that starting over and hopefully we’re getting a script in the next month or two, and we’ll go back to Crystal Lake.”

So there you have it. While I may be a bit bummed, I’m sure today is a joyous day for F13 fans around the globe. To hell with the format though…I just hope the film can make it out of the production nightmare that it has found itself in.
