Even superheroes can be scared, especially when a Hospital isn’t a Hospital, it’s a Haunted House.

That seems to be the case in the new trailer for THE NEW MUTANTS, the upcoming action-thriller from Marvel Studios. Directed by Josh Boone and based on a popular series of comics from the mid-80s, THE NEW MUTANTS plans to merge X-Men canon with Horror. We gave you some backstory earlier this year here, but now we have a trailer that delivers on Boone’s promise of Horror.

If this first look is any indication of what’s in store, mixing the iconic X-Men series with the genre definitely has me intrigued. Throw in some top talent like Maisie Williams from Games of Thrones, Anya Taylor-Joy from Split and The Witch, and Charlie Heaton from Stranger Things and Marvel could have the makings of a genre-crossover hit. The film will also star Blu Hunt, Henry Zaga and Alice Braga (Predators, I am Legend).

Fans of The New Mutants comics will notice what’s not shown in the trailer, the horrifying Demon Bear, but rest assured, it’s evil presence can be felt. For those of you not familiar with Writer Chris Claremont’s thrilling story, close your eyes and imagine John Carpenter’s THE THING, with teenage X-Men.

Stay tuned for more and get ready for April 2017 when THE NEW MUTANTS mutates on-screen.
