Beyond the basic setup, in which a single mom is abducted by strangers and undergoes extreme testing, the new trailer for this sci-fi thriller raises a lot of questions. Namely, what the hell is going on? Of course, something seems not quite human about the whole ordeal, but I have a strong hunch that spiders may be heavily involved. The poster, below, also seems to support this. So those with arachnophobia beware, this sci-fi thriller is likely going to test your limits. And poor Noomi Rapace’s character.

Directed by Steven Shainberg, the film stars Noomi Rapace, Peter Stormare, Kerry Bishe, and Michael Chiklis. Not only is Rapace a talent, but any film is instantly elevated by including Peter Stormare in the cast, right?

Rupture will invade your screens early, exclusively on DirecTV on March 30, 2017. Theatrical, VOD, and digital release will follow on April 28, 2017.

RUPTURE follows Renee Morgan (Noomi Rapace), a single mom, who is deathly terrified of spiders. While in route to meet up with a friend, she is violently abducted by a group of strangers. After enduring intense yet strange questioning and examinations, some about her fear of spiders, Renee soon discovers that she is now the subject of an underground experiment. Her captors explain to her that she has a genetic abnormality that can potentially allow her to “rupture” and reveal her alien nature. Renee must find a way to escape before it is too late.
