Our hearts were broken in June when the highly anticipated successor to P.T. was unceremoniously dumped without much of an explanation. The developers, Lilith Ltd., ceased to exist after a break up with game publisher Team 17.  Just like that, the 13-minute pre-alpha gameplay video that had fans salivating with its photorealistic graphics, eerie atmosphere, and terrifying ghost girl seemed doomed to collect dust in its corner of the Internet.

Except, fervent fans weren’t willing to let the game go so easily.  It turns out, creator Christian Kesler couldn’t quite shake it, either.  After much soul searching, Kesler has now set out on his own to complete the game. He’s created a new label for the game, called Far From Home, which he co-founded with his wife.

He confirmed the news in a statement to IGN.  Of the project he stated:

“It did take a bit of soul searching to find the drive again to work on Allison Road and to simply make a call on what to do next. After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far — the whole journey, so to speak. I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow, little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life.”

I’ll be honest, I now might officially have whiplash due to all of the changes that have come and gone during the development of Allison Road. It’s clear proof as to just how arduous and unpredictable game development can be.  While this news is a huge positive, there are no details on just what changes Kesler is referring to in his statement, and there is still no release date.

We’ll keep you updated as more details unfold.

In Allison Road you will take on the role of the unnamed protagonist, who wakes up one day without any recollection of prior events. Over the course of five nights it is your objective to uncover the whereabouts of your family, unravel the mysteries of the house, and face off against Lily and other dark entities that are nested deep within its walls, while the clock is relentlessly ticking towards 3:00am.

What would you do if you could feel something stalking you in the dark in the safety of your own home? If you couldn’t tell what’s real and what’s not?

The single-player campaign will mostly take place in one British townhouse. Your British townhouse.
