The session lasted for ninety minutes, most of which Olivia could not recall. The last thing that she vaguely remembered was towards the end of the session. The acupuncturist was chanting in what seemed like a strange tongue. He went to each individual needle, twisting it before removing it. She felt like the world had been lifted off of her shoulders. He on the other hand, was drenched in sweat and looked as if he might collapse from exhaustion.

“Are you alright?”, alarm clear in her voice.

Waving her off, “Yes, yes. Just an unfortunate side-effect of the treatment. Another reason why it is so dangerous.”

During the course of their session, she had forgotten all about the dangers and her worry. They slowly crept back.

“But everything went accordingly?”

A broad smile crossed his face. “Indeed.”

Olivia returned a faint smile and nodded her head. She quickly paid the man and hustled back to her vehicle. It was only thirty minutes later that her cell phone began to ring. It was the police. They were sorry to inform her that her husband had been found with his apparent mistress. Both had been brutally murdered. With great effort, Olivia stifled her excitement.

It wasn’t until she saw the body that she was able to witness the acupuncturist’s work. Limbs were twisted in terrible angles, bones were shattered, and flesh was ripped. What was left of her husband’s face was frozen in a visage of agony. He did not die an easy death.

Good she thought to herself. She had been incredibly skeptical of the acupuncturist’s voodoo, but this was a terrible work of art. He had assured her that using human flesh instead of an effigy would be tenfold as powerful. There was no denying that now.
