We’ve seen quite a few modern takes on classic horror franchises over the years, but we don’t typically see traditional children’s tales converted into genre films–not any that look half decent, at least. That’s what makes THE CURSE OF SLEEPING BEAUTY so interesting.

There’s no denying that this one could go either way, but the newly released trailer certainly shows moments of excellence. From the creepy set pieces to the super-cool costume design, I’m absolutely more interested in this one now than you could have led me to believe mere days ago. I know this all seems a bit odd, but have a look at the official plot synopsis, trailer, poster, and still images below, and let us know if this tickles your fancy even a little.

XLrator Media is releasing the film on VOD platforms on May 17th, so be on the lookout for a full review in the coming weeks.

The Curse of Sleeping Beauty is an entirely new, dark vision of the classic Brothers Grimm adventure. Thomas Kaiser (Ethan Peck) inherits an ancestral mansion that has been in his family for generations — only to learn that he has also inherited an ancient curse stemming back to the Crusades. Forced into his new role as “protector” — the guardian appointed to keep the evil demons in the house at bay — Thomas must unravel the mystery of the house, while struggling to awaken the beautiful Briar Rose (India Eisley), held captive in a terrifying netherworld seen previously in his dreams.
