We’ve covered many films from Black Fawn Films and Breakthrough Entertainment in the past. In fact, The Sublet will be the 4th feature film in a calendar year that Black Fawn Films has released. Your gut instinct may tell you that there is no way any team can churn out quality content at that rate – but your gut would be wrong.
The distribution of writing, directing, and producing duties among the team allows work to get done in a consistent and quality way. While Chad Archibald may be the most recognizable name at Black Fawn Films currently, he isn’t the only one putting in work. The Sublet is a prime example of this. It marks the latest from writer/director John Ainslie (Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer), and it looks pretty damn cool.
The Sublet will have its European premiere at Razor Reel Film Festival on November 7th and its North American premiere at Whistler Film Festival this December.

TORONTO, ON, – After a successful run with films like BITE, ANTISOCIAL and THE DROWNSMAN, Black Fawn Films & Breakthrough Entertainment are excited to release the poster for their latest horror feature film collaboration, THE SUBLET. Written and directed by John Ainslie (writer of, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer) and starring Tianna Nori, (The Demolisher, Clean Break), Mark Matechuk, Krista Madison (The Dirties, Project Avalanche) and Rachel Sellan (Silent Hill: Revelation 3D). THE SUBLET is a suspense driven psychological-thriller about Joanna, a new mom struggling with postpartum depression and coping with her baby alone in an odd sublet apartment. Left alone as her husband neglects her for his career, she discovers that the apartment has a violent past. She clings to her sanity as the apartment’s blood soaked past leaks into the present.
