Bill Skarsgård (It Chapters 1 and 2, Assassination Nation) and Maika Monroe (It Follows, The Guest) are the latest inept criminals in over their heads in the Sunshine State. After a run-in with Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer, Edge of Seventeen), the star-crossed lovers find themselves realizing they aren’t the worst criminals in the room.

We first got our eyes on Villains at SXSW earlier this year. Our own Jon Cohorn noted that it “skillfully dances between laughs and thrills, punctuated with moments of blood-soaked violence.” Now the dark, violent comedy comes to theaters nationwide. A VOD release is almost sure to follow, but stay tuned for more details. Check out the trailer below if you need more details, as it definitely appears to reveal a number of key plot movements in addition to some fantastic acting and stylish edits.

Mickey and Jules are lovers on the run, headed southbound for a fresh start in the Sunshine State. When their car dies after a gas station robbery, they break into a nearby house looking for a new set of wheels. What they find instead is a dark secret and a sweet-as-pie pair of homeowners who will do anything to keep it from getting out.
