One of the more obvious trends in horror right now is horror on the small screen, and with recent announcements of television adaptations of The Exorcist and Locke & Key, the trend shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.  Summer, a season once a relegated to reruns only, has grown over recent years into a season ripe with new television series worth watching.  Which means we no long have to wait until October to get our horror TV fix.  Here’s what we can look forward to this summer:

Premiere Date: May 22

If you missed last Sunday’s premiere of the quirky yet very bloody comic adaptation, fret not: the premiere is re-airing this Sunday followed by Talking Preacher after show. Season 2 Premiere Date: May 30

Scream picks up with Emma’s return to Lakewood after several months at a retreat, where she tried to recover from the horrors of last season. Everyone is walking on eggshells around her, questioning whether she has truly gotten over the Killer’s crimes. Meanwhile, Audrey is hiding her connection to the Killer, but is getting harassed by someone who knows the truth. Brooke and Jake are also keeping secrets—they are hiding a budding romance from Mayor Maddox. And, Noah is getting closer and closer to the truth about the season 1 murders. Lakewood’s murderous past, both recent and distant, are once again brought to focus – with this Killer’s psychotic mind-game intent on bringing Lakewood’s heroes down in a storm of betrayal and bloodshed. scream-mtv
