Like film, sometimes good Horror movies take time to process.

When the Modern Horrors team saw the original short film last year in Knoxville, TN, we knew Polaroid would be destined for more development. And sure enough, we’re happy to share its first trailer.

The premise is pretty simple, with a haunted thing haunting people. This time, it’s an antique Polaroid camera (I use the term antique loosely since I grew up with one, but the afflicted Millennials of the film didn’t and that’s what really matters isn’t it). We wrote about Polaroid back in April and like then, we believe this story is just the kind of simple and dreadfully horrific hi-jink that could spell hit.

Directed by Lars Klevberg, the same Director as the short, Polaroid stars some familiar fresh faces, including Madelaine Patch (Riverdale), Keenan Tracey (Bates Motel) and Samantha Logan (The Fosters). As for faces not so fresh, but rather tough and authoritative, there’s the always brilliant Mitch Pileggi of The X-Files fame. Dimension Films has announced an in-theaters release date of August 25, 2017.

With a little investigation, we’re also happy to share that Polaroid will feature the talented, tall and extremely limber Spanish actor, Javier Botet. Horror fans should know the name as Botet has made a brilliant career out of playing some of the most unsavory characters imaginable in shockers like Mama, The Conjuring 2, the REC films and Alien: Covenant. My guess it’s his spindly hands that do the grabbing at the end of the trailer. But see for yourself and enjoy this first look below.

From the producers of the THE RING and THE GRUDGE and based on the award-winning short by Lars Klevberg, comes the next iconic and bold new vision in horror: POLAROID. High school loner Bird Fitcher has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the mysterious Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end.
