There’s something inherently terrifying about inanimate objects coming to life.  More specifically, dolls that lust for human blood.  Director William Brent Bell looks to capture that fear with The Boy, starring Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead).  If you happened to see Crimson Peak on the big screen, than you may have caught the atmospheric trailer that sees Cohan’s character grow increasingly unsettled when she’s left alone to care for a life-size doll. Aside from the eerie gothic setting, the trailer hints that there may be more to this story than your typical killer doll fare.

And now, we have the first poster, with the creepy tagline, “Every child needs to feel loved.”

The Boy is scheduled for release on January 22,2016.

Greta (Cohan) is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.
