Just two months after THE FIRST PURGE hits theaters (July 4, by the way), The Purge TV series will hit the USA Network. The short teaser trailer doesn’t show much in way of plot, but the series certainly carries the same dark tone and aesthetic of the movie franchise.

The series, a 10-episode run, will give fans more time with characters, exploring their origins and why they make the decisions that they do. It’s unclear how violent the show will be considering it is on TV; however, from the brief trailer it looks solid – even if it hides some of the more extreme violence.

James DeMonaco, the writer of the four THE PURGE movies and director of the first three, is onboard with the series, returning as a writer and executive producer on the show, so expect his bitting social commentary to return.
