The Strangers director, Bryan Bertino, hasn’t directed a film since 2016’s criminally underappreciated The Monster, but it looks like his newest project is finally ready to premiere. Already being referred to as an “incredibly scary shocker”, The Dark and The Wicked is set to launch at the 2020 Fantasia International Film Festival later this year.

There’s no trailer to sink your teeth into just yet, but I’m certain it’s a total creep fest. You can check out the first look, below, and read over the plot synopsis while we wait. We’ll keep you updated with additional information, including its U.S. premiere, as soon as information becomes available.

On a secluded farm in a nondescript rural town, a man is slowly dying. His family gathers to mourn, and soon a darkness grows, marked by waking nightmares and a growing sense that something evil is taking over the household. THE DARK AND THE WICKED stars Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete), Michael Abbott Jr. and an uber-creepy Xander Berkeley (CANDYMAN, The Walking Dead).
