Scream Factory is planning on releasing a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 before next summer. They’re not sharing much in the way of details yet, but the announcement is official:

This is one of the best sequels ever made as far as I’m concerned. It’s such a wildly different film than the original classic that it avoids being an uninspired rehash. It trades in outright terror and subtlety for over the top gore and fun while keeping just enough scares in tact to keep it in the realm of horror (as opposed to all-out comedy).

2016 is set to be a big year for the TCM franchise between this and the likely release of prequel Leatherface.

Other titles coming from Scream Factory in 2016 include Manhunter, Lady in White, Murders in the Rue Morgue and The Dunwich Horror (double feature), Species 2, and Species 3/4 (double feature).
