Director Lawrie Brewster’s debut feature, Lord of Tears, impressed many with its haunting visuals and iconic villain, Owlman, set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.  Brewster again explores mythology in his latest feature, The Unkindness of Ravens, and brings us more memorable villains in the form of the Raven Warriors.  Inspired by Norse Valkyries and the Celtic Morrigan, the Raven Warriors hunt in a flock, or an “unkindness,” and covet their prey’s eyes.

In what the director describes as Apocalypse Now meets The Evil Dead, the film stars Jamie Scott Gordon as Andrew, an army veteran in a literal battle with his demons.  If the trailer is any indication, Andrew’s battle will be intense and violent.  And gory.

If you find the bloody insanity of the trailer as enticing as I do, you can support the film via Kickstarter.  The film is near complete and the crowd-funding campaign is being used to wrap up post-production, with an expected DVD release over the summer of 2016.

Andrew Alburn, a homeless veteran suffering from PTSD, is plagued by flashbacks of a traumatic event he witnessed while serving in the armed forces. He travels to a retreat in the remote Scottish Highlands hoping to overcome his fear of ravens, the dark creatures that populate his visions, but, in this bleak wilderness, his nightmares manifest into an enemy more powerful than he could ever have imagined. He must battle these monstrous entities as well as his own inner demons in order to keep his life, and reclaim his sanity.
