I knew this night was coming...

We have been talking about the Scream television series for what seems like an eternity now. Making backhanded jokes and rolling our eyes at the involvement of MTV. Not only did I know this night was coming, but I was prepared to let loose on the murder of one of my favorite film franchises of all time. So you could imagine my surprise when I watched the trailers and thought: “This could be good…” Yes, really.

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but I’m not absolutely disgusted by what I have seen thus far. Granted, it’s not a lot to go on, but it seems self-aware, and that’s something that the Scream franchise has always been known for. That’s a great first step if you ask me. Sure – it’s on cable TV. But cable TV isn’t what it used to be – so who knows how far they will try and press the envelope. But it’s not like Scream is notoriously gory. Not by today’s standards at least.

So have a look for yourself and let us know what you think. June is right around the corner, and I’ll certainly be tuning in to see where this goes.

What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.
