On March 13, 1997, thousands of people in Phoenix, Arizona and Sonora, Mexico reported strange lights in the sky, described to have been from a UFO. Twenty years later, to the very day, the strange phenomena that’s since been dubbed the “Phoenix Lights” was recreated via drones over 6th street in Austin, Texas for SXSW.

For a glimpse of the recreation, and a taste of what it’s like to be in the thick of SXSW, check out the clip below. The film inspired by the original event, Phoenix Forgotten, will be released on April 21, 2017. Check out the teaser for the found footage film here.

Phoenix Forgotten tells the story of three teens who went into the desert shortly after the incident, hoping to document the strange events occurring in their town. They disappeared that night, and were never seen again. Now, on the 20th anniversary of their disappearance, unseen footage has finally been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition. For the first time ever, the truth will be revealed.
