If the name Leigh Whannell sounds familiar, you’ve likely seen his work both in front of the camera and behind it. He’s known for the SAW and INSIDIOUS franchises while having his hands in several other movies over the last 17 years. UPGRADE is his latest endeavor with Whannell writing and directing. And let’s just say if this is Whannell unleashed, we want more, and we want it now.

UPGRADE is a brutal sci-fi revenge story where a paralyzed man gets a second chance at life through a technological implant on his spine that gives him more than the ability to just walk again – the chip can take control of his body and turn it into a violent killing machine. The Red Band trailer is gory, blood, and nothing short of thrilling. The kills are stunning, brutal, and we want more right now.

UPGRADE won the SXSW Audience Award where it premiered last month, and it’s earning positive reviews. The movie is produced with Blumhouse, so it should come as little surprise the movie will get a theatrical release set for June 1.
