When a friend of mine told me to check out this indie horror-comedy film called Range 15, I said sure, why not? We’ve watched a lot of ridiculous shit here at Modern Horrors, and we’ve even enjoyed some of it along the way. What I was not expecting to see was a plethora of familiar faces ranging from professional MMA fighters, to icons such as Danny Trejo, and even Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell of Lone Survivor fame. Oh, and did I mention Keith David? Sean Astin? William Shatner!?
The birth of Range 15 came about when the Veteran run apparel companies Ranger Up and Article 15 became frustrated by constantly seeing military personnel portrayed by caricatures. In true modern day fashion, they took to Indiegogo and became the 4th highest crowd sourced film on that platform. With a $1.5 million budget, and a two weeks shooting schedule, let’s not expect the next icon of horror. However, it does look like it’s going to be one of those over-the-top experiences that’s perfect for having the gang over while tossing a few back.

I am a veteran. I watch all types of movies and often appreciate movies that get low ratings. This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I completely understand their concept, but this movie is completely unwatchable. I tried to watch it several times and kept either turning it off or falling asleep and I wasn’t even tired. I forced myself through it just so I could provide a valid review. The group of people that made this movie are not representative of veterans as a whole. A lot of social media and internet reviews have been put out there proclaiming the greatness of this movie, but I don’t get it. Do yourself a favor and ignore the hype on this one and never watch it. Your time will be better spent doing anything else.

Yeah… I had a feeling. Part of me thought this could be a fun romp. Matt Best puts out a few funny YouTube videos here and there, and who doesn’t like supporting veterans!? When they were absolutely against a review, my radar went up. Sorry you had to suffer through.
