The Ouija board, also known as a spirit board, has been scaring children since its commercial introduction as a game in the late 1800s. But it’s also been a popular tool for communicating with the beyond since as far back as 1100 AD. The concept of the Ouija is simple: Feed your energy into the board, and it will open up a gateway to allow the dead to talk with us. This always scared me as a child. As I grew up, I longed for a horror film that would do the legend of the Ouija justice. It took a while, but I think we may finally see just how scary that piece of wood truly is in the upcoming film OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL by the genre-journeyman director, Mike Flanagan..

OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL is a sequel to 2014’s woefully sub-par horror film, Ouija. That said, it looks like the sequel aims to pack a bigger punch. The film stars Annalise Basso and Kate Siegel (both were in Flanagan’s Occulus). Also in the film is (Insidious 3) actress, Ele Keats, and reprising her role as Paulina Zander is none other than Lin Shaye (Insidious films).

As we grow closer to the film’s release date of October 21st, look to Modern Horrors for more coverage of OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL. For now, check out the trailer, poster, and stills below.
