Anytime someone can blend my love for horror, comedy, and cannabis into a single piece of entertainment, I’m probably going to support it. In the case of Thacher E. Cleveland’s new comic, GRIM REEFER, it’s a no-brainer.

Cleveland, a seasoned author in his own right, is joined by talented artists Claudio Munoz and Kóte Carvajal in this horror/comedy homage to classic 80’s slasher films with a dash of the “Just Say No!” panic that was so prevalent at the time. As far as the plot goes, here’s the pitch:

“What happens when a violent career criminal is gunned down and a crop of marijuana is grown on the spot where he died? You get weed that’s infused with his revenge-crazed spirit that possesses anyone who smokes it so he can use their body to get revenge on the people he thinks have wronged him!”

Honestly, you had me at GRIM REEFER.

If you want to check out the Kickstarter, click the link HERE and check out the perks which include things like digital and physical copies of the comic or even a POP figure of the titular Grim Reefer sculpted by master craftsman Viet Huynh. It even has a box designed by awesome artist Christine Brunson!

For what it’s worth, I’ve been fortunate enough to read the script for the first issue and can say it’s definitely something the MH audience can get behind. If you have the cash to spare, GRIM REEFER is a sure bet.
