We’re just over a month away from the new Halloween movie hitting theaters, and anticipation, along with expectations, are high. Billed as a direct sequel to the 1978 film, the new Halloween film has Michael Myers escaping a mental institution. He heads for Haddonfield to terrorize not only Laurie Strode and her family, but the residents as well–and that’s exactly what we see in the latest trailer.

Myers is back in Haddonfield on a busy Halloween night. We see him blatantly walk into a backyard, pull a hammer from a shed, and enter a woman’s home. Her death is off-screen. We then see Myers pick up his iconic butcher knife. Other scenes from previous trailers flash as Myers moves on to the next house. The guise of Halloween gives Myers all the cover he needs for a murder spree.

Can you spot the Halloween III: Season of the Witch nod?

Halloween is directed by David Gordon Green with John Carpenter’s pulsating score thumping underneath tense scenes. Judy Greer, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nick Castle, and Will Patton star. Halloween hits theaters Oct. 19.

Plot Synopsis
