REVENGE, the first feature film from Coralie Fargeat who also wrote and directed the movie, takes the trope-filled rape-revenge story and tells it from the female perspective. The IMDB trivia says Fargeat is quoted saying that so much blood was used the crew often ran out.

This movie isn’t coming out of anywhere. Our very own Meagan Navarro reviewed REVENGE back in September giving it an 8.3 out of 10. Navarro said in her review, “Fargeat unleashes a harsh, truthful lens of what women deal with on a regular basis against the backdrop of one gloriously bloody entry in the New French Extremity movement.”

“Visually, REVENGE is highly satisfying as a tense cat and mouse game full of carnage and suffering,” Navarro continues in her review. “But for women, this is an anthem of empowerment.” Navarro also interviewed Fargeat.

Shudder acquired REVENGE, which stars Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz (RINGS) and Kevin Janssens, last year. The movie is expected to make an early 2018 release. The movie’s distributor shows a release date of February 7. Hopefully, we don’t have too long to wait.
