I consider Layers of Fear to be one of the greatest horror games of all time. Needless to say, its particular blend of cerebral, mind-shattering terror left its mark on me. So you can imagine my delight when news of a sequel dropped not long ago. To make things even better, Layers of Fear developer, Bloober Team, announced that it was partnering with Friday the 13th: The Game developer, Gun Media, to make it a reality.

Plot details have been hard to come by, but more light was shined on the project last week at PAX South where both teams hosted a joint panel showcasing debut footage from the upcoming title. Beyond the visual overhaul and location reveal (a boat?), Layers of Fear 2 had one more surprise up its sleeve–it was revealed that one of the most recognizable voices in horror, Tony Todd (Candyman), would be narrating the new nightmare.

Layers of Fear 2 is scheduled to release later in 2019. We’ll keep you updated with developments as the come our way. Until then, check out the debut trailer below.
