Like it or not, the majority of independent filmmakers are turning to crowdfunding campaigns to seek funding for their projects. As common as it is to find truly terrible films seeking your hard earned dollars–you might be apprehensive to donate at all. Hell, we’re even apprehensive about covering a great deal of crowdfunded projects, but SONS OF BITCHES piqued my interest. Why?

Well, it’s a short “survival western leering towed horror” that’s being produced in Switzerland. Oh, and the guy that directed one of the best vampire films in recent memory (Chimerès) is attached as a producer (Olivier Beguin). That’s all well and good, but that alone is not quite enough for the project to get a feature on Modern Horrors ? You have to prove that you’re able to deliver upon your promise. And while I haven’t set eyes on much footage just yet, Olivier hooked us up with some production stills that go a long way in inspiring confidence. Seriously, these are some pretty shots.

The team was seeking funding to help with the second leg of their shoot that takes place in April, but they’ve reached their goal with over 12 days to spare. Don’t let that keep you from donating though, there are still some wonderful perks to be had. Head over to the campaign page to check it out for yourself. I’ll be keeping a close on this one, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on additional information as it comes our way. Until then, check out the official plot synopsis and the aforementioned still images below–they’re a beaut.

Sally is a prostitute for pioneers and trappers in a small town in Wisconsin. As she can no longer bear the abuses and fears for her baby’s life, she decides to run away and face the cold and snowy mountains instead of enduring the violence one more day.
