After years of reports and delays, today is the day that we get our first glimpse at Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s (Inside, Among the Living) LEATHERFACE. Many had worried that the duo’s English language debut would be toned down for American audiences, but if the debut trailer is any indication, I don’t think we have anything to worry about in that regard.

Our first look at the film showcases 2 minutes of flashbacks and bloodshed that appear to foreshadow a chaotic and bloody ride.

Luckily, we don’t have much longer to wait. LEATHERFACE will be available to DirecTV subscribers on September 21st before rolling out to limited theaters and VOD platforms on October 20th. We’ll have a full review for you by then. We promise.

A prequel about teenage Leatherface who escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.
