There’s no denying that being branded as an iconic character of horror is a difficult thing to do–especially these days. Monsters like Michael Myers, Jason Voorheese, Pinhead, Freddy Krueger, and Leatherface have worn the title for years, but it’s been tough for modern filmmakers to create a character that sticks. Maybe Victor Crowley or Bagul, but even that is a stretch. Could Stacy Title’s THE BYE BYE MAN be the next iconic Halloween costume that we 20 years from now? Hell, maybe. We don’t get the greatest look at the film’s antagonist in the debut trailer, but probably not.

The film is coming to us from STX who have recently released The Gift, The Boy, and Hardcore Henry–so we’re dealing with some tasteful cats. Here’s to hoping THE BYE BYE MAN is able to make the most of the recent boom that indie horror seems to be experiencing. Check out the debut trailer below, and let us know what you think.

THE BYE BYE MAN hit theaters on June 3rd, 2016.

Set in 1990s Wisconsin, when three college students move into an old house off campus, they unwittingly unleash a supernatural entity known as The Bye Bye Man, who comes to prey upon them once they discover his name. The friends must try to save each other, all the while keeping The Bye Bye Man’s existence a secret to save others from the same deadly fate.
