I wouldn’t have thought a trailer cut with the Beach Boys song “God Only Knows” could give me the creeps, but the new trailer for A24’s Lamb has certainly changed my mind on that! This Icelandic folk horror is the first feature for director Valdimar Jóhannsson and the first role in her native Icelandic language film for lead actor Noomi Rapace (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Prometheus). Lamb won the Prize of Originality at Cannes this year, and this definitely seems like an unusually twisted folk tale.

I’m torn between thinking that the lamb wearing people clothes and being bipedal is adorable and understanding that this can’t possibly end well. I have a feeling this one is going to give me complicated feelings about the Icelandic sheep farm Instagram account that I follow…

Lamb will be in theaters October 8th, 2021. Check out the poster and trailer, below, and let us know what you think!

A childless couple in rural Iceland make an alarming discovery one day in their sheep barn. They soon face the consequences of defying the will of nature, in this dark and atmospheric folktale, the striking debut feature from director Valdimar Jóhannsson.
