THE CURED, a movie about reintegrating cured zombies back into society, is less a bloody travesty of zombie tropes and more about the societal issues that arise from such reintegration. Our own Luke Rodriguez reviewed the movie last year, giving it a solid 7.5, saying it has “A climax that is absolutely captivating”—words that also appear in the trailer, which is always nice to see.

The movie follows one family as they try to reintegrate a cured member who is ostracized by society and traumatized by the horrific acts he committed while infected. This is a drama at its heart—something different the sub-genre needs.

THE CURED stars Ellen Page, Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. It’s written and directed by David Freyne. The movie hits theaters and VOD February 23.

A disease that turned people into zombies has been cured. The once-infected zombies are discriminated against by society and their own families, which causes social issues to arise. This leads to militant government interference.
