The struggle to put down your phone and really live in the world is the jumping off point in this trailer for Save Yourselves!  It then proceeds to reminds us why most of us cannot seem to stop looking at our devices. The allure of being disconnected is confronted with the fear of being uninformed when aliens–that look a bit like larger versions of the Crites from Critters–hit Earth.

Remember that joke your dad would make when you’d go on a family vacation and he wasn’t reading the newspaper every day? He’d say “The world could come to an end I wouldn’t know about it for a week.” Now update that dad joke for 2020, and you’ve got the basic premise for Save Yourselves!

Main characters Jack and Su decide to detach from technology in a cabin in upstate New York where they learn just how hilariously unskilled they are. When I think about how often I have to Google how to do something that my parents would have just known how to do, I can totally relate. The casting in this looks delightful. Sunita Mani (GLOWMr. Robot) and John Reynolds (Stranger Things, Search Party) have clear chemistry, and I can’t wait to see what they bring to this horror-comedy.

Save Yourselves! is in theaters nationwide on October 2nd, 2020 and on digital October 6th, 2020.

Jack and Su are a hip Brooklyn couple who, like many of their friends, find themselves dependent on technology and unable to put down their phones. Fearing their mindless scrolling may impact their connection with each other, they seize the chance to head to an isolated cabin in the woods, vowing to unplug from the outside world for a week. Sheltered from texts and push notifications, they are blissfully unaware that the planet is under attack. As strange events unfold, the couple must figure out a way back to civilization—or what’s left of it.
