With Stanley Film Festival right around the corner, the buzz is high for several genre films. For me though, there is one film making its debut there that stands above the rest. And while details are scarce as of this moment, Some Kind of Hate could very well be the horror film that genre die hards have been waiting on. We had a chance to exchange words with Co-Writer/Executive Producer Brian DeLeeuw. Here’s how he describes the film:

This is Adam’s first feature as a director and the first produced feature for both of us as writers. Our goal from the start was to create an emotionally intense and visually beautiful take on the supernatural slasher. We wanted to marry the tradition of Nightmare on Elm Street to the aesthetics of indie drama, with a dash of the new wave of French horror films we love from the early 2000s.

Nightmare on Elm Street meets French Extremist horror?! Yeah, I’ll have some of that please.

If you are attending Stanley Film Festival, Some Kind of Hate will be making it’s debut on May 2nd. If there’s any way possible for you to make it there…i would. We can’t wait to get our eyeballs on the film, and will of course keep you updated with new info as it comes our way. Until then, check out the first official image of the film along with the plot synopsis :

When a troubled teen is subjected to severe bullying, he accidentally conjures Moira Karp. Once a teenage girl pushed to suicide, Moira is now an unstoppable force on a mission of gruesome retribution. But when she goes to far, he must prevent her from spiraling out of control in this passionate and vividly violent supernatural thriller.
