Writer-director Mickey Keating (DARLING, PSYCHOPATHS, CARNAGE PARK) may have let the cat out of the bag about new episodes of Shudder’s The Core coming down the pipe. Over the last few days, Shudder’s Instagram account has been mysteriously posting one letter a day of the title of something. However, with today’s posting of the letter “O” speculation arose that the streaming service is producing new episodes of The Core – a horror-like talk show. What corroborates the speculation is Keating, season one’s host, shared a screenshot of Shudder’s Instagram profile, circled the “ORE” posts and added a cute Pumpkin emoji for the proper aesthetic. He then posted it to his Instagram Stories.

We’ve piled on the praise for this series because there’s nothing else like it. In the first season, Keating sits down with a gaggle of horror guests and icons such as Adam Green (HATCHET), Leigh Whannel; (SAW, UPGRADE, INSIDIOUS), Simon Barrett (YOU’RE NEXT), and Mary Harron (AMERICAN PSYCHO) and not only examines the on-screen techniques and special effects, and the real-life psychologies behind the genre we love.

Right now, we have no idea what season two holds. We don’t even know if we’re getting an entire 10-episode follow-up to the first season. Hopefully, this isn’t a one-off HALLOWEEN special. For as popular as genre filmmaking is right now, we can think of plenty of industry figures to bring onto the show. As of right now, this is all speculation about The Core. But boy, does the evidence feel legit.
