It wasn’t long ago that we were sharing our opinions on Joe Begos’ Bliss—a bold and bloody vampire flick shot on 16mm film (you can read our review here). But if you thought he was taking the rest of the year off, you’d be wrong.

Begos and the Channel 83 team joined forces with Fangoria to deliver VFW in the same calendar year—adding to Begos’s growing filmography that includes genre gems like Almost Human, The Mind’s Eye, and the aforementioned Bliss. VFW has been making noise on the festival circuit for months, but now we have a gritty new trailer and a firm release date of February 14th, 2020 to share with you all.

“It will be interesting to see the textbook Channel 83 steez paired with an outside writing style.”

It’s worth mentioning that VFW breaks the trend of Begos writing what he directs. Matthew McArdle and Max Brallier collaborated on this script, so it will be interesting to see the textbook Channel 83 steez paired with an outside writing style. If the trailer is any indication, though, we have nothing to worry about.

Check out the trailer for VFW, below, and put your eyes on the final product on February 14th, 2020.

A typical night for a group of war veterans at the local VFW turns into an all-out battle for survival when a teenage girl runs into the bar with a bag of stolen drugs. Suddenly under attack from a gang of punk mutants looking to get back what’s theirs – at any cost – the vets use every weapon they can put together to protect the girl, and their VFW, in the biggest fight of their lives.
