Physical media fans, rejoice! Shudder will bring the dark folk tale, Gwen (Review), to Blu Ray and DVD this fall. The film centers around the titular young girl who struggles with a mother’s illness, a father’s absence, and an angry group of villagers. Will she find the strength to guide her family through the darkness, or will a malevolent presence be too strong to overcome?

Our own Jeremy Burgess reviewed Gwen, finding it to be a “grim” and “bleak” tale “dealing with issues like mental health, classism, family dynamics, corrupt governments, and mob mentalities.” William McGregor makes his feature-length directorial debut with Eleanor Worthington-Cox (Malefecent, The Enfield Haunting) in the title role.

Check out the trailer below and look for Gwen on Blu Ray and DVD on October 8, 2019.

An atmospheric arthouse folk tale set in the hills of Wales during the industrial revolution.
