I am always on board to see whatever Edgar Wright is working on, and today we got the first trailer for his next film–One Night In Soho! While it doesn’t do much to clear up the plot of what has been a rather mysterious project, it certainly lets us know that this film is here to be creepy and gorgeous! Prepare yourselves for the “this isn’t horror” crowd to chime in on this one, but I don’t know a lot of period dramas where hands come out of the floors and walls to attack people–so I’m going to have to preemptively disagree with those folks.

Trying on someone else’s life may be a “be careful what you wish for” situation.

The casting alone should get horror fans and those more likely to enjoy a dramatic thriller excited, with Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch), Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit) and Matt Smith (Dr Who) in the most prominent roles. We don’t know if Eloise, played by McKenzie, is time traveling to, dreaming about, or being haunted by 1960s London, but she clearly gets more than she bargained for as her encounters with her idol, a stylish singer named Sandy (Taylor-Joy), start to blend into her every day life. Trying on someone else’s life may be one of those “be careful what you wish for” scenarios. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!

Last Night In Soho will be in theaters on October 22, 2021

A young girl, passionate about fashion design, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.
