Summer season is typically the most anticipated season in the film industry. Crowds flock to the theaters during the summer months to escape the heat, grub on some popcorn, and enjoy the show. Typically flooding multiplexes are big-budget superhero blockbusters, but due to the recent success of horror movies released in the heated months, such as The Conjuring ($318 million worldwide box office) and The Purge franchise (combined $200 million worldwide box office), horror fans have more to look forward to this summer season.

In no particular order, I have compiled a list of the top 6 most buzzed about horror films hitting theaters and screens everywhere summer 2015. Filled with sequels, sharks, and more, scream your way into summer with the list below!

The first two Syfy Channel original films instantly became ratings hits, and cemented a nice place in popular culture. For the past two years, these B-movie, goofy flicks always tend to be the center of everyone’s twitter account every July… this film should hold no exception. Tentatively sub-titled Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! the film brings the eye of the storm right to our nation’s capitol.

Sharknado 3 premieres on the Syfy Channel July 22.

The first of a few on our list that comes from the Blumhouse factory. Insidious 3 explains promises to take viewers back to the beginning. The first two films in the series offered up some pretty suspenseful moments, as well as some serious cash; $258 million worldwide box office to be exact. This film could potentially be the highest grossing horror film of the summer.

Insidious 3 haunts theaters June 5.

With a cast consisting of Emma Watson and Ethan Hawke, and Academy Award winning director, Alejandro Amenabar helming the flick, Regression looks as if it will be thriller that will please even the most sophisticated horror audiences.

Regression opens in theaters August 28.

Part of the Blumhouse production factory, Sinister 2 is a follow up to the Ethan Hawke thriller from 2012. The trailer looks so-so in my opinion, but I will still check it out because of my love for the first one.

Sinister 2 slashes into theaters August 21.

Adding to our tally of Blumhouse productions, the long awaited directorial follow up from filmmaker, Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) has been on the shelf for over three years. Originally set for release in 2012, the movie is finally seeing the light of day. The trailer looks pretty entertaining and fresh. I look forward to seeing how one of the reigning kings of found-footage tackles the most guarded location in the country.

Area 51 [Review] opens in select theaters and VOD May 15.

When the trailer for The Gallows hit, I did not know what to expect. This film came out of left field and looks creepy as hell! Once again, the producers of Blumhouse are behind this eerie flick. The film is being kept in secrecy at Warner Bros., but I will be sure to check it out!

The Gallows arrives in theaters July 10.

Grab a cold one, take a seat, and enjoy your summer horror fans!
