I’m a pretty big Child’s Play fan. I think overall the franchise has been surprisingly solid and woefully underrated. And as you might expect, I am very excited about the new USA/SYFY series, Chucky. Lucky for me, we finally have a release date and trailer for the anticipated series and it looks like the sarcastic, serial killing doll we know and love is back to his old tricks! The synopsis suggests this will be a bit of an origin story–not of how the consciousness of murderer Charles Lee Ray ended up in a doll’s body (the first Child’s Play movie is pretty clear about that), but how the man himself became such a monster in the first place.

Expect this to feel similar to the original franchise movies with original Child’s Play creator Don Mancini at the helm as producer, show runner, and director of at least the first episode.  In the series, Chucky will be terrorizing a new child named Jake, but diehards needn’t worry–it looks like we will see plenty of familiar faces in the coming episodes. Cast listings include many actors from the original films like Alex Vincent who played Andy Barclay and Jennifer Tilly as Chucky’s wife, Tiffany.

Chucky will have it’s series premier on USA and SYFY on October 12, 2021 at 10PM. Check out the trailer and stills gallery, below.

In the new television series, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town’s deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky’s past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
