What you need to know:

  • 3 From Hell is coming to nearly 900 theaters
  • The theatrical event only lasts 3 days
  • A different incentive exists on each day
  • Dates: September 16th, 17th, 18th

This is it. The next chapter of Rob Zombie’s blood-soaked crime saga finally has a release date. As many predicted, though, it comes with a few caveats. Mainly, 3 From Hell’s theatrical run will be limited to roughly 900 theaters by way of a three-day event courtesy of Fathom Events—the same company that hosted a one night event for Zombie’s previous film, 31. Fathom Events has also confirmed that it will be broadcasting the unrated cut of the film.

This time, however, moviegoers will be treated to more than a set of music video premieres. On September 16th, attendees will see a special video introduction from Rob Zombie with the first 50 ticket holders at each theater receiving an exclusive poster (while supplies last). On the 17th, audiences will be treated to a nearly 30-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. On the 18th, moviegoers will experience the ultimate double feature including 3 From Hell and The Devil’s Rejects.

Beyond being a cool incentive for fans, this is a slick move by Zombie and team to potentially garner repeat viewers in the three-day stretch.

Plot details are still largely under wraps, but I find it telling that 3 From Hell is now being referred to in press materials as the “next” chapter—not “last” or “final”. Time will tell how it all plays out, but we don’t have much further to go. Will you be hitting up one of the events? Check out the official list of cities when it hits the Fathom Events website later this summer, and let us know on Twitter @ModernHorrors when and where you’ll be watching. Maybe we’ll see you there!
