I'm a big Ti West fan.

It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that Ti West’s run of indie horror titles and contributions between 2009 and 2013 are, in part, what inspired us to create this very website. Films like The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers, and The Sacrament all flexed wildly different approaches to the genre–and West’s appearances and segments in other genre properties such as V/H/S, ABCs of Death, and You’re Next only further hammered home his passion and commitment for horror. Then, after all of that, he made a (pretty sweet) Western with John Travolta and Ethan Hawke before seemingly riding off into the sunset in his own kind of way…

West went from releasing three, almost universally praised, indie horror hits before breaking out of the genre to work with two major Hollywood actors. He seemed poised to be the next big thing–and then 5 years passed without much news of a new feature film. Now, the drought appears to be over. Ti West is back, and he looks to be in prime form if the debut trailer for X is to be believed.

X stars Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow, Owen Campbell, Stephen Ure, and Scott Mescudi. It’s written and directed by Ti West and being brought to theaters by A24 on March 18th, 2022. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.

I’m clearly excited.

In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.
