This 8 one-hour episode, 1980s set series finds Winona Ryder as a mother that must contend with terrifying forces when her son instantly vanishes. The series has been described as a “love letter to classic sci-fi” and series creator Matt Duffer has stated, “We wanted to evoke the sense of wonder we remember from our childhood, from ET and from Stephen King novels.” Stephen King meets sci-fi? I’m in.

Executive produces Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse have a five season plan to cover the plot from the book trilogy, but left fans with a major doozy of a book departure with a major character death last season. It’ll be interesting to see how the series moves forth.
